Last Thursday, we hosted our second of five webinars in our fall series entitled, “Facility Compliance Think Tank.” The response has been exciting! Our audience more than doubled in size from our first webinar. Thank you for all of you who came out to learn about this important topic and helped get the word out!

The second topic was “Possible Changes in Emergency Preparedness.” I was joined in presenting by Gene Mellin with Johns Hopkins Medicine at Howard County General Hospital; EOC and Disaster Coordinator (CHSP, CHEP, CHPP, ILO, TLO), Kawika Feltman at Antelope Valley Healthcare District; and Director of Security, Safety & Communication Services (MSML, CHEP), Robert Loseman at University of Missouri Health System.

Since the introduction of the COVID-19 virus, the HICS Emergency Preparedness System has been constantly stressed and tested. Changes are expected within the emergency management process and CMS standards. This webinar explored the possible changes to emergency preparedness within the healthcare field.

Topics covered included:

  • The current state of emergency preparedness in hospitals within different geographical locations.
  • Changes emergency management experts are already discussing due to COVID-19.
  • Possible future changes that will affect standards based on current evidence-based practices.

We want to be a source of education during the pandemic in the healthcare facility compliance community.

Our next webinar is next week on Thursday, October 29th at 1 pm CST. We will be discussing “How to Maintain Facilities with Limited Resources.” Our speakers will be Jeff Lehmann, President, CHFM, CHEM at Medical Compliance Team; Jason Piper, Administrative Director of Planning Design and Construction at Advent Health; Damion Schinnerer, AVP BioMed Engineer at Wellstar Health System and myself. Our webinars are always free! We would love for you to join us!  Register at www.soleran.com/thinktank.
